HOW TO KEEP HEALTHY AND FIT AT 60+

It’s all about the lifestyle you lead. When I was still employed, I made it a habit to get at least 7 hours of sleep every night. Of course, there would be times when this wasn’t possible for various reasons because of pending corrections or worksheets that had to be set and uploaded or maybe even because I didn’t want to miss an interesting movie showing on the T.V.

Whatever, I would have to wake up at 5 the next morning, foggy in the head or not and make it to work.

As a retired teacher I have plenty of time now to indulge in various activities and pursue hobbies. Keep in mind that making correct choices to lead a healthy lifestyle and stay fit is a good idea. Health is wealth has got to be the mantra !!

Let’s get into some of the things that we should keep in mind:

Be ‘ Cool’  with the fact that you are retired. Accept it as another chapter in your Book of Life, at the same time keep all avenues open new ventures.

Maintain a happy and peaceful lifestyle with plenty of positivity. As we look back at our journey through life, we will find, over the years, loads of anecdotes deposited in our experience box. It is now time to pull them out and share them with loved ones and family with the hope that it will resonate with someone that needs guidance.

Staying healthy and keeping fit is just a tip of the iceberg. With diligence and determination anything can be achieved. Plan a routine, try simple exercises to tone up the muscles and loosen the joints. Brisk walking for 20 minutes after meals can be very helpful. There are other options too, but walking is the best. It keeps the machinery oiled and in good working condition.

Pursue your passions. There are varied options. Try painting your favorite scenery etc. Get that kitchen garden going that you always dreamed of having –  an excellent idea to grow your own vegetables etc. or you could even try writing anecdotes about your life experiences. Indulge in cooking your favorite recipes – nothing like trying out new ones to set the pace. Explore new avenues and you just might discover a hidden talent that gives a sense of satisfaction.

Reading can be very helpful. Taking the time to read everyday is good. Read novels written by your favorite author. Maybe even magazines etc. This habit helps keep the gray cells alive and active.

Writing and sharing experiences from our Book of Life can be useful to the younger generation.

‘Hope’ must be the fire within your soul. The driving force and the most important.

This blog of mine is sure to inspire someone out there and help them lead a satisfying, peaceful and happy retired life.
